TCAT is currently seeking an experienced dispatcher with a proven track record of success working in fast-paced environments. This is an excellent position for those looking to take the next step in their transit career and you will have the opportunity to obtain your Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) by receiving paid training from our highly-skilled staff.

A day in the life…

As one of TCAT’s dispatchers, you will be responsible for maintaining the continuity of TCAT’s service by coordinating transit system routes and the assignment of over ninety Bus Operators.

Working alongside an experienced operations team and relying upon your knowledge of TCAT’s labor agreement, you will be given the opportunity to come up with creative solutions to challenging situations such as: bus shortages, driver shortages, detours, emergency situations, schedule adjustments, and corrective actions. Every day you will utilize scheduling spreadsheets and Computer Aided Dispatch software to ensure efficient service and communication. You will also play a key role in ensuring the safety of our employees and the community by assessing Bus Operator’s fitness for duty and facilitating drug and alcohol test notification and assignment of relief Bus Operators.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of one (1) year of dispatch experience in a transit environment. Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office, a commitment to safety, strong communication skills, the ability to read and follow written instructions, the ability to work with a team and independently, strong communication and judgement skills are a must. A CDL with passenger and airbrake endorsements is a plus. The successful candidate will be required to obtain their CDL-B with endorsements within three (3) months of hire.
